There are many ways of understanding the world, but there is a special place in my heart for data. Other forms of information—like narrative and subjective experience—are just as vital to the human experience, but when it comes to business, science, or public policy the objectivity of data makes it unique foundation for collaborative approaches to understanding and decision making.

I write stories because I love building new worlds and meeting the interesting people that live inside of them. I write hard sci-fi, space opera, urban fantasy, and weird west steampunk. My influences are J. R. R. Tolkien, Philip K. Dick, Ray Bradbury, C. J. Cherryh, Kurt Vonnegut, Raymond Chandler, and Ursula K. Le Guin.
